A few dates for your diary

I’ve seen a few dates that anyone in Britain or anyone planning to visit Britain might like to attend, depending on their liking for history, rock music, or falconry, an eclectic grouping, I admit, but most attractive to me. They are all connected with the Countryside Alliance, one of my favourite organisations, which “works for everyone who loves the countryside and the rural way of life.” So here are some dates for your diary. The first two will put some change in Countryside’s pockets.

Sir Max Hastings speaks about the Falklands War Monday, 23 April, 7 pm, Great Hall, Kensington Town Hall, London. Tickets here.

Countryside Rocks, Concert at Highclere Castle
Saturday 19th May
Features Bryan Ferry, Steve Winwood, Kenney Jones and the Jones Gang, Mike d’Abo, Jon Anderson and Gary Brooker. A great success last year, this year's event has BBQ, a Pimms stand, and Eric Clapton as a featured guest, and sounds like a winner to me.

British Falconry & Raptor Fair
Newport, Shropshire, Sunday & Monday, 6 & 7 May
Contact: Ron Morris, 01588 672 708
(“Thou hast hawks will soar above the morning lark.”)
