Abolishing Slavery - Creating a new world

The fellowship hoped that abolishing the trade in slaves would end slavery itself and allow Africans to live freely and happily. Abolition was also intended to end the degradation of the sailors, merchants, and planters involved in slavery.

The fourth part of this series on abolishing slavery follows the members of the fellowship through the war-torn 1790s and early 1800s, the resurgence of the abolition movement, and that long-awaited moment when Parliament ended the slave trade and the King gave his assent. The date was March 25, 1807.

Creating a new world is here.
