DJ J Star was born in the Dominican Republic, then moved with his family to NYC at the age of 6. J Star was born into a musical family who, alongside with the vibrant and diverse music and cultural scene of NYC; exactly the Uptown Manhattan and The Bronx areas, influenced and inspired him to come up with his own unique style from mixing Hip Hop, House, Reggae, Salsa, Merengue, Rock and others; the thing which made him a staple in his neighborhood and the DJ community at an early age.
J Star is a sophisticated DJ with a rich academic and professional background. He graduated from the audio engineering school and soon after started internships in radio stations like Hot 97 and 103.5 KTU. In 2015, he was hired by Iheart Radio Power 105.1 as an on air mixer. In 2018, he parted ways with Power 105.1 to sign with Pitbullʼs station on Sirius XM ch. 13 for his now world-famous weekly show. He also teamed up with Jack Daniels in 2017 and worked with brands like NBA, Adidas, Nike, HBO, Dropbox and JBL just to name a few.
Besides being DJ for the New York Knicks at the Mecca of Basketball Madison Square Garden as the halftime show multiple times as well as DJ at the Barclays Center for multiple New York Nets events, J Star notoriety easily crossed the borders because he is always invited to perform in international concerts and events all over the world.
With the focus on what makes him unique and different, J Star is dj’ing in about ten shows a week in New York / Tri-State Area. Overall, J Star got the necessary skills and passion to leave his audience excitedly overwhelmed wherever he goes.
